Newspapers - pros and cons

The Newspapers Industry - a dying business

Many speculate on the fact that paper newspaper is a dying business, and that in a few decades online newspaper will dominate.  In this blog post I will focus on the pros and cons of the newspaper industry.

The paper newspaper usually target elder people, who do not know how to use the Internet and the different websites, also paper newspaper are impractical. It is so much easier to go straight into your phone and check an app, than caring around old newspapers. One of the biggest arguments against the newspaper is the wasteful overload. People are becoming more and more aware of the environment and the consequences of their actions. The last argument against newspapers are the cost, it costs money to buy it. Why buy a newspaper when you can read it for free online. Now with all of these arguments against newspaper, how can the newspaper industry still be in business?

Many people like having a physical newspaper in their hands, it is a habit which is hard to break. Also if the physical newspaper goes out of business many journalists will lose their job, and the are not that expensive to buy. Even though newspaper are not so environmental, there are newspaper that can be recycled. Another important thing to mention is that staring too long on your newspaper will not damage your eyes, like a computer might.

To sum up their are both pros and cons against online and ordinary newspapers. I honestly think that the good old paper newspaper is going to be with us for a while, but in a few decades it will disappear. However I also think that the small newspapers will not manage to outperform the big newspaper industries. I am referring to big newspaper industries like BBC, the New York Times, Daily News etc.

The worshippers of the Ganges river belongs to the religion Hinduism. They look at the river as a goddess and mother because they believe that Ganges is Shiva’s hair. Shiva is one of the most sacred gods in Hinduism, together with Vishnu and Deli. Many of the Hindus keep water from Ganges in their homes because it is prestigious and bathing in the river is also important for many, if they don’t do it they do not feel complete. When a Hindu dies his/her ash is thrown in the Ganges because their family hopes that they have finally made it out of the circle of life, Samsara.

Which impression do you get of the size of the country? Name the biggest cities. What is the capital of India called? What do you associate with the Ganges? Which are the neighbouring countries? What do you know about India's relationship to these countries?
India is the largest country in south-Asia. Major cities in India include New Dehli, Bangalore, Mumbai,Chennai, Calcuta and Agre. The capital in India is New Dehli. Along many of the major cities in Indie, the river Ganges flows. This river is often associated with Hinduism and is said to be sacred.

Neighbouring countries to India are Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Burma, Bangladesh and China. India borders to the Indian-, Arabian sea and Bay of Bengal. India has a good relationship to most of its neigbouring countries, however, tensions with Pakistan are growing this very moment. This is a complex tension building on several factors and disputes in the past. The main difference between India and Pakistan are the different religions - Pakistan is muslim while India is Hindu.

A description of Marais Van der Vyver

Marais Van der Vyver is the main character in the short story "The moment before the gun went off", written by Nadine Gordimer. In this text I will give a short description of him. The story is written in third person. The setting in the story is in South- Africa. The apartheid regime has fallen, but you can still sense that there is some tension in the society. By an accident Lucas, a black farm boy, is shot and killed by Marais, the white farmer.

Marais Van der Vyver is an Afrikaner farmer. He is the regional party leader of the liberal whites and Commandant at the local security commando, and a respected high standing man of the district. The text states that Marais is a big, clam and clever man.  He does not show much emotions, and often hides his smile behind his big mustache.  Marais is married to Alida, and together Alida and Marais have three children: Magnus, Helena og Karel.

Marais has a secret, Lucas is his son, this is revealed in the end of the text.  Lucas was born when the apartheid regime was strong, which is why nobody knows the truth. Marais find a way to stay in contact with Lucas, every week they go hunting together. They both love the nature and the wild life. Lucas and Marais has a close relationship through the years. When Lucas dies Marais is very shaken up, and he starts to cry. As mentioned earlier Marais early show any emotions. When he cries for Lucas death, it tells us that he truly cared for Lucas.
